When Nika Mitteregger asked her brother Michael Gross and his wife Maria whether grape juice could be made with the same care and appreciation as wine, she was met with immediate enthusiasm. At the time, during her pregnancy, the world of alcohol-free enjoyment still felt limited. Together, they chose a vineyard, named it the Fleingarten, and cared for it with the same dedication they would give to fine wine.
Soon after, Michael’s university friends became part of the idea: Harald Cronst from Cantina Kurtatsch in Alto Adige and Sebastian from Schmidt am Bodensee in Bavaria. That’s how the Flein Friendship was born. And perhaps the nicest part of all? Flein gives them plenty of wonderful reasons to keep coming back together.
They are united by a long-standing friendship — and by the belief that grapes can become something truly special, even without alcohol.

Cantina Kurtatsch

Cantina Kurtatsch is based in the south of Alto Adige and is a cooperative with more than 125 years of history. For Harald Cronst (pictured on the left), Flein was love at first sip — and his enthusiasm quickly spread throughout the entire team. On site, tastings, vineyard tours, and cellar visits invite you to experience Flein with all your senses.

At the Schmidt family estate, summer is best enjoyed on the terrace of the popular wine bar Pinot, while winter invites you into the cozy, traditional Rädle. Alongside fine food and regional wines, there is, of course, Flein. Sebastian brought his fascination for single-variety and sparkling grape juice to the winery on the Bavarian shores of Lake Constance.

Nika wanted a grape juice that tasted fresh, vibrant, and true to its variety — perfect for raising a glass without alcohol. Together with the Gross winegrowing family, she launched Flein and expanded the idea to other wineries. Today, she is responsible for design and marketing, making sure every bottle is filled with quality, passion, and good friendship vibes.
