Maria and Michael Gross
Where it all began:
From grape to Flein

Maria and Michael Gross know that good things happen when you let them. They see it with their own eyes every single day — whenever they look out over their Fleingärten. These are carefully selected vineyards in Austria and Slovenia, where the grapes for their juices grow. As co-founders of Flein and producers from the very beginning, they have always believed in working consciously and respectfully with nature. But then again, they’ve never known it any other way. At Vino Gross, their winery, Maria and Michael do what comes naturally to two people deeply connected to the land: organic cultivation, craftsmanship, and gentle processing of the juices.
They warmly welcome guests to visit the estate and taste what is crafted here with care and passion. Please book in advance.
Maria and Michael Gross have been crafting the finest Flein since 2018.
Maria and Michael Gross live in a landscape where the rolling hills of Stajerska Slovenia meet those of Southern Styria. Endless vineyards, countless wineries, and a rich culinary scene — from traditional Buschenschank taverns to fine dining — make this region a place worth discovering. Mediterranean and alpine influences come together here, making it especially appealing both for the grapes and for visitors.

Co-crafted
Blaufränkisch x Weninger
Zweigelt x Gesellmann
Flein stands for grape juices made from regionally characteristic grape varieties. To expand that diversity, Maria & Michael Gross brought Burgenland into the picture — the home of great red varieties. Gesellmann is known for its masterful handling of Zweigelt, while Weninger is celebrated for Blaufränkisch. This gave rise to a collaboration we call Co-Crafted. The winemakers from Burgenland tend exceptional grapes, which Maria & Michael transform into Flein with their expertise. A closer look at the labels is well worth it — subtle details reveal this special partnership.
